YOUR LOCAL COUNCILLOR UPDATE

23/10/2020

The number of COVID cases are continuing to rise not only across Stratford on Avon District but across Warwickshire with some sharp rises in Warwick and North Warwickshire districts, which could have implications on us all in terms of the overall numbers for Warwickshire, with the potential to move us up to Tier 2 across the county if these trends continue over the next couple of weeks.  As we know, Coventry, Solihull and Birmingham are all now in Tier 2.

The number of cases therefore reported as of this morning across the county are now 5379 up from 4550 on 16th October – an increase of 829 cases over the last seven days.

The situation regarding the 423 SWFT Hospital Beds has seen an increase of inpatients with 11 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and two patients in ICU.

The cumulative deaths across Stratford District has again sadly increased by one to 170 with the deaths in care home rising by one to 83 from a cumulative of 1231 ‘all cause deaths’ in the district. The cumulative total of all COVID-19 deaths in Warwickshire has increased by two to 606 and over the same period there have been 4309 non COVID-19 related deaths in Warwickshire.  Across the county there has been a total of 212 COVID-19 deaths in care homes settings (an increase of one in the last week) compared to 1399 ‘all cause deaths’ in care homes over the same period.

There are 46% of SWFT hospital beds occupied by Non-COVID-19 patients, 3% occupied with confirmed COVID-19 patients and 20% beds occupied with suspected COVID-19 patients and a spare capacity of 31% beds.

From a Stratford on Avon District perspective over the last seven days our rolling rating is based on around 123/100,000 – the county average is now 141/100,000 so let’s keep focused in doing the right things to protect our communities safety and avoid a local lockdown.

Take care and have a good and socially distanced weekend.

YOUR LOCAL COUNCILLOR UPDATE

16/10/2020

Well it’s Friday, so here I am again with the latest update on Covid across the district, whilst I have received the usual figures this morning, I have also had an update from the Chief Exec at SDC late this afternoon who has been extensively involved in various Incident Management Team meetings this week for South Warwickshire.

The figures over the last seven days have been skewed with not only catch-up numbers but also it would appear that some students at University in other parts of the country provided their home address with their parents when being tested away, which I understand is now being addressed.

The analysis of the cases for the district is now helping Public Health Warwickshire to shape the messaging they are putting out, the main points for our district are as follows:

  • By far the biggest increase in cases for the district is the age range 10-19 and 20-29, within this Public Health’s view is this relates in the main to the age group 18-24

  • There is however an increase in cases across all other age groups, the next highest being the age 50-59, it is theorised that these relate to the 18-24 taking the infections home

  • Household transmission and visiting friends or family is by far the most common reason for the spread of the virus in the district. Hospitality in comparison is responsible for very transmissions. Indeed, officers from Public Health were very complimentary about the measures that our hospitality industry is taking in trading on a COVID secure way;

  • The district is working very closely with colleagues at the county and NHS to develop further messaging next week.

As mentioned above the overall increase rate of cases for the district has reduced over the last week. Last Friday SDC was the joint highest rate across the County, today we are the lowest!

This case be shown in the chart below, this provides the number of cases per 100,000 population for the last 7 days (this is for cases which are based on the laboratory confirm sample dates for the period 7/10/20 to 13/10/20)

In addition the further chart below provides the actual number of cases per day, with the cumulative total and the average daily cases over a 7 day period, again this chart shows that the increase in new cases has reduced in the last week.

The number of cases therefore reported as of this morning across the county are now 4550 up from 3953 on 9th October.

The situation regarding the 423 SWFT Hospital Beds remains similar to all the other stats provided a week ago, which means there are five confirmed cases of COVID-19 at present with one patient in the intensive care unit.

The cumulative deaths across Stratford District has sadly increased by one to 169 with the deaths in care home remaining at 82 from a cumulative of 1206 ‘all cause deaths’ in the district. The cumulative total of all COVID-19 deaths in Warwickshire has increased by three to 604 and over the same period there have been 4178 non COVID-19 related deaths in Warwickshire.  Across the county there has been a total of 212 COVID-19 deaths in care homes settings (no increase in the last week) compared to 1370 ‘all cause deaths’ in care homes over the same period.

There are 52% of SWFT hospital beds occupied by Non-COVID-19 patients, 1% occupied with confirmed COVID-19 patients and 14% beds occupied with suspected COVID-19 patients and a spare capacity of 33% beds.

From a Stratford on Avon District perspective over the last seven days our rating is based on 85/100,000 so let’s keep focused in doing the right things to protect our communities safe.

UPDATE FROM YOUR LOCAL COUNCILLOR

5/10/2020

Good morning, I have now received today’s figures which now include the unreported cases as announced on national media, which apparently go back over the last ten days and are consequently not encouraging and not in line with my update provided on 2 October.  To provide some context to these new figures I have included today’s number as a comparison to those numbers provided on 25th September.

The number of cases therefore reported as of 10am this morning across the county are now 3637 up from 3250 on 25 September and in Stratford on Avon District these are 700 up from 628 on 25 September – ie 72 new cases.

The situation regarding the 423 SWFT Hospital Beds remains the same as does all the other stats provided on Friday, which means there are five confirmed cases of COVID-19 at present and NO patients are in the intensive care unit.  The cumulative deaths across Stratford District remains at 168 with the deaths in care home remaining at 82 from a cumulative of 1164 ‘all cause deaths’ in the district. The cumulative total of all COVID-19 deaths in Warwickshire has increased by one to 601 in the last week and over the same period there have been 3988 non COVID-19 related deaths in Warwickshire.  Across the county there has been a total of 212 COVID-19 deaths in care homes settings (no increase in the last week) compared to 1323 ‘all cause deaths’ in care homes over the same period.

There are 53% of SWFT hospital beds occupied by Non-COVID-19 patients, 1% occupied with confirmed COVID-19 patients and 14% beds occupied with suspected COVID-19 patients and a spare capacity of 32% beds.

Extreme vigilance is therefore required.  Take care and lets keep our communities safe.

Kind regards
Anne

Whist cases are still high for the District this week, there is an indication that the numbers are levelling off, however, the increase is still in double digit territory over the last seven days across Stratford on Avon District, but slightly lower than the previous week. emphasizing the importance of infection control and the roles that washing your hands, wearing a face covering and keeping your distance are having.

COVID-19 Update
The cumulative cases across the county as of today are now 3440 up from 3250 (an increase of 190 and down by 35 on last week’s figure) with confirmed cases in Stratford on Avon District increasing by 29 to 657 since last week (two less than last week),

Out of the 423 SWFT Hospital Beds there remains five confirmed cases of COVID-19 at present and NO patients are in the intensive care unit.

The Test and Trace Support Payment Scheme
SDC will be administering the scheme through the Housing Benefit team and will have an online application available from 12th October following receipt of the software programme, and individuals who are required to self-isolate before this date who meet the qualifying criteria will have payments back dated. These changes came into effect on 28 September 2020, alongside the legal duty to self-isolate.

The idea is that it will help reduce the transmission of COVID-19 and avoid further social and economic restrictions, including local lockdowns.

Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the Test and Trace Support Payment, an individual must:

  • have been asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace either because they’ve tested positive for coronavirus or have recently been in close contact with someone who has tested positive
  • be employed or self-employed
  • be unable to work from home and will lose income as a result
  • be currently receiving one or more of the following:
    • universal credit
    • working tax credit
    • income based employment and support allowance
    • income based jobseeker’s allowance
    • income support
    • housing benefit
    • pension credit

Wellesbourne Household Recycling Site
Remember the Household Recycling Site is now open Saturday, Sunday and Monday and visits can be booked online via https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/recyclingwellesbourne

Please keep safe this weekend and let’s keep doing what we have been doing and not exceed our numbers next week which are 24/100,000 over the last seven days based on a district wide population of 123,000

Kind regards
