Two weeks into Lockdown 3 and figures released this morning show that for the SDC area the seven day rate/100,000 is now showing signs of levelling – 344.4/100,000 (338.2 last week) and the over 60’s day rate is 271/100,000 (278.2 last week) (with 113 cases over the last seven days), which when compared to other districts in Warwickshire for all ages is Nuneaton & Bedworth 497.4/100,000, North Warwickshire 386.1/100,000, Warwick 324.2/100,000 and Rugby 527.8/100,000.
The situation regarding SWFT Hospital Beds has continued to increase which is not unexpected with 130 (107) confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 4 (5) patients in ICU (figures in brackets are from 8 Jan). The capacity has consequently decreased to 10% from 12%, inspite of a small increase of ‘open’ beds up 369 to from 364. The cumulative deaths across Stratford District from the start of this second wave (28th August 2020) have sadly increased by a further 11 to 52 with 12 occurring in care homes, 36 in hospital and four at home, out of a total of 484 all cause deaths in the district for this new second wave period. The cumulative total of deaths across Warwickshire for Wave 2 has now jumped to 245 from 202 within a total of 2101 all cause deaths. The cumulative total of Covid-19 deaths in Stratford district is 220 since the start of the pandemic and in Warwickshire 845; over the same period there have been 5607 non Covid-19 related deaths in Warwickshire. The new locally led Lateral Flow Testing facility for people without coronavirus symptoms opened successfully this week in Stratford at the Courtyard Theatre next week and to date has carried out 1201 tests with one positive result. The vaccine rollout is continues to gear up momentum and across my division is being delivered from Wellesbourne at Hastings House Medical Centre, Southam Clinic and Stratford Hospital. WCC is also involved with the setting up of a mass vaccination site which will be located in Stoneleigh in due course and will complement the vaccination facility in Birmingham at Millennium Point which is being offered as an earlier alternative option for residents. Roving teams are carrying out vaccinations in care homes amongst staff and residents and it is anticipated to have all care homes in Warwickshire vaccinated by the end of the month, as this is a priority area. Best wishes for the weekend, stay warm and please keep safe, take care and stay home.
